From a Humble Start to a Beacon of Hope in Rural Preschool Education
In a quiet tribal village, around 30 kilometers from Silchar town in Assam, a powerful transformation began on 18th October 2019. With just a few thousand rupees, a strong heart, and a dream to educate the village’s youngest minds, Mrs. Mili Laha launched Hello Kids Aarya, a low-budget preschool that today stands as a shining example of what determination, community support, and the right guidance can achieve.
This is not just the story of a school—it’s the inspiring journey of a woman who dared to dream. A dream to bring structured early childhood education to a place where there was once none. And now, that dream is shaping the future of an entire rural community.
Before 2019, the tribal hamlet near Silchar had no access to any preschool or playschool facility. Most families worked as daily wage laborers or small-scale farmers. Early learning for children wasn’t a priority, not due to a lack of interest, but because it was neither available nor affordable. Mrs. Mili Laha, a local woman with basic education but a strong will to make a difference, decided to step up.
She learned about Hello Kids’ rural-friendly playschool model and reached out to their support team in Silchar. After her initial training and orientation, she received approval to start a low-cost early education center under the Hello Kids Gram Plus model.
When asked why she took such a bold step, Mrs. Laha says simply: “When I saw young children sitting idle while their parents went to work, I felt it was time to give them more than just a place to pass time. They needed a playschool, a place to grow, play, and learn.”
Her vision was clear: to provide affordable preschool education that would give rural children a strong foundation through fun-filled early learn ing, even in the most remote corners of India.
Her motive was clear:
She believed that education isn’t just about books—it’s about building confidence in both the child and the educator.
